The Eight-Volume Official Biography of Sir Winston Churchill by Randolph Churchill and Martin Gilbert Available in Kindle Format for the First Time

All Volumes Available for Free Kindle Download April 9, 10, 11

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - April 09, 2015) - RosettaBooks and Hillsdale College kick off today's celebration of Winston Churchill Day with the first Kindle eBook release of the eight-volume official biography of Sir Winston Churchill. Readers can enjoy a free download of all eight volumes in the Amazon Kindle store April 9-11.

Winston Churchill, English statesman and winner of the 1953 Nobel Prize in Literature, published over 40 books in his lifetime, many of which are multi-volume works detailing historical events to which he was a witness or active participant.

Preserving the detailed and accurate account of the life and writings of Churchill is critical not only to the study of statesmanship in general, but also to the study of the principles and prudence required in foreign policy.

Hillsdale College is the publisher of the official biography, which is comprised in its entirety of eight narrative and 17 document volumes. Hillsdale College has undertaken to republish, complete, maintain in publication, and market the official biography of Churchill. RosettaBooks, the leading independent digital publisher, publishes 52 works of Winston Churchill in cooperation with the Churchill Estate and its agent Curtis Brown UK and also publishes 12 works of Sir Martin Gilbert, including Churchill: A Life.

Churchill's official biography is the longest written biography of any person, living or dead. Curated over the course of more than twenty years, it provides a detailed history of the life of this famous statesman -- from his youth to early adventures in South Africa and India, his early career, and his more than fifty years on the world's stage -- chronicled through Churchill's letters and papers, and through hundreds of private archives.

Volumes I and II were written by Churchill's only son Randolph. In 1962, Sir Martin Gilbert began work as one of Randolph Churchill's research assistants, and in 1968, after Randolph Churchill's death, he became the official biographer of Winston Churchill. Sir Martin wrote the remaining six volumes of the Churchill biography. In 2012, Sir Martin's declining health required that he turn the project over to Hillsdale College President Larry P. Arnn.

Hillsdale College will complete the final six document volumes of this monumental work and will keep the entire work in print. This groundbreaking digital release and the accompanying limited-time, free download mark yet another milestone in the continuing legacy of Sir Winston Churchill.
