EIIA and ConnectedHealth Deliver Award-Winning Benefits Offering to Institutions of Higher Education Across the U.S.

Expansion of My Benefit Basket™ Enrollment Platform Enhances Health and Financial Wellness of EIIA's Entire Member Base

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - November 17, 2015) - ConnectedHealth, a leading private insurance exchange company, and Educational & Institutional Insurance Administrators (EIIA), a not-for-profit organization that provides insurance and risk management services to member colleges and universities, today announced the implementation of the My Benefit Basket™ platform for medical and ancillary benefits for two EIIA member institutions. In addition, the benefits platform will be offered to all EIIA member institutions by the end of 2016.

With regulatory changes afoot and demand for an easier and paperless benefits enrollment process, EIIA realized it needed to re-imagine how to deliver benefits to its member institutions. Together with ConnectedHealth, EIIA customized an online offering that meets the needs of its members' entire workforce, whether part-time, tenured or pre-retiree.

"We're thrilled to expand our partnership with EIIA. With My Benefit Basket, institution employees will receive personalized coverage recommendations, guiding them to a deeper understanding for how to achieve health and financial security," said Joe Donlan, president of ConnectedHealth. "Furthermore, with an integrated administrative system that simplifies human resource and compliance functions, we're able to support institutions that typically have lean benefits staff."

"We anticipate there may be some initial resistance from participating institutions about using an online platform," said Doug Maher, executive director of employee benefits at EIIA. "However, the online enrollment tools, back-end improvement in benefit administration -- including ACA compliance -- and integrated offering for non-group eligible employees have created the perfect solution for our members."

In June 2015, EIIA launched its first exchange with an institution -- one of the first benefits strategies of its kind in the higher education community. My Benefit Basket is currently operational at Schreiner University and the University of Mount Union, with positive early results. EIIA and ConnectedHealth are currently implementing the platform at Illinois Wesleyan and have several more institutions in the pipeline. The individual My Benefit Basket exchange for seminary students at eight other institutions was implemented this past fall.

My Benefit Basket has received attention from the healthcare industry, as EIIA was recently awarded Most Effective Implementation for a Private Exchange from the Institute for HealthCare Consumerism (IHC). Doug Maher will accept the award at IHC's Forum West show in Las Vegas on November 16-18, 2015.
