Eisai Inc. Announces Appointment of Vice President of Production Operations

TEANECK, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 23, 2005 -- Eisai Inc. today announces the immediate appointment of Louis C. Arp as Vice President of Production Operations at the company's pharmaceutical production and formulation research and development facility in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. In his role, Mr. Arp will oversee all aspects of production, including manufacturing, packaging, materials management and facility engineering.

Mr. Arp joined Eisai from OSG Norwich Pharmaceuticals, where he served as president and was responsible for running a $40 million outsourcing manufacturing operation. Mr. Arp's extensive operations experience in manufacturing and packaging includes a variety of finished dose forms such as tablets, capsules, liquids, semi-solids and powders.

Prior to his work with OSG, Mr. Arp spent 20 years with Procter & Gamble Health Care. He was the site leader of the global prescription drug strategic site in North America, and was a member of Procter & Gamble's global product supply team, which was charged with optimizing the North American and European supply operations.
