Ektron Exchange: Ektron Code Community for Developers

Ektron Announces "Wicked Widget" Contest; Winner to Receive Free Synergy 2010 Registration

NASHUA, NH--(Marketwire - March 23, 2010) -  Ektron Inc., a Web content management, social software and marketing optimization solution provider, today publicly unveiled The Ektron Exchange (, a "one-stop shop" for developers offering the latest Ektron news, best practices advice and community-developed code. The core of the Exchange, the Community Code area, will provide pre-built user controls, widgets and more, much of it developed by the new Ektron Code Factory Group (CFG).

"Ektron's CFG will be leading our code sharing community, providing the code and components that deliver the functionality our developers have been asking for without their having to wait for a new release of the Ektron platform," says Bill Cava, Ektron Chief Evangelist. "But we're also expecting the entire Ektron community's participation in the Exchange, as part of Ektron's championing the ideas of social support and social innovation during 2010. As well as the Exchange, other examples of our commitment to the community are our developer screencast series and the Ektron Local User Group meetings." Links to the screencasts Cava mentions can be found on his blog at the Ektron DevCenter.

Ektron developers have already had a sneak preview of the new Exchange, and the reaction has been extremely positive. "A cool place to share code" and "Nice UI" were among the comments on Twitter about the new Ektron community.

To encourage code contributions to the Exchange, Ektron has announced a "Wicked Widgets" contest running to May 31st, 2010. "Upload your widget to the Exchange and tag it with 'Wicked,'" says Cava. "Entries will be judged both by the community for 'Most Popular' and 'Highest Ranked" and by the CFG for the depth of the solution and how well it adheres to Ektron Best Practices." The winner of the "Wicked Widgets" contest will receive a free registration to Synergy 2010, as well as having his or her widget showcased in the Exchange. Full details on the contest can be found at

"The Exchange is the latest move in Ektron's commitment to maintaining a strong and vibrant network of developers, customers, partners and users, and a perfect example of how social innovation benefits both companies and the community that forms around the company," says Bill Rogers, Ektron CEO and founder. "Both the Exchange and the Code Factory Group are responses to the feedback we've received in our DevCenter forums about what developers need. The Exchange will help them leverage work already done by Ektron and their peers and increase their project's margins through code reuse."

Ektron will be featuring the Exchange as part of its Local User Group tour, which is in Toronto on March 23rd and will be in New Your City on the 24th. Visit to find where you can attend a Local User Group meeting in your area.
