Elan Enables Sierra Wireless AirCards via USB

FAREHAM, UK -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 6, 2006 -- As part of the ongoing development of their highly successful range of USB-to-PCMCIA adapter products, Elan Digital have released new software which allows users to connect to the internet with the Sierra Wireless AirCards 775, 850 and 860 3G modem cards using the Elan U111 adapter. The U111 connects via a standard USB port on the PC.

The U111 is already established as a convenient and low-cost solution for users who need to interface their wireless modem PC Cards via a free USB port on their computer. Power is provided from the USB port, making the U111 a truly portable solution.

Demand is growing for USB connectivity where PCs are not supplied with PCMCIA card slots, such as with small size notebooks, some desktops or embedded applications.

While the U111 is designed to support 16-bit PCMCIA wireless modem cards, for 32-bit cards Elan has designed the U132 adapter. Full technical information on the U111 can be found at
