Elasticsearch Launches Elasticsearch 1.0 to Meet the Scale and Robust Requirements of Their Enterprise Customers

Elasticsearch 1.0 -- the Search and Analysis Component of the Elasticsearch ELK Stack -- Can Now Handle Unprecedented Scale With More Robust Search and Analytics Features

LOS ALTOS, CA and AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS--(Marketwired - Feb 12, 2014) - Elasticsearch Inc., the company that is helping thousands of organizations worldwide get actionable insights from their data, today announced the release of Elasticsearch 1.0. The company's first major product release, built from the accumulated experience of helping hundreds of businesses deploy Elasticsearch as a part of the ELK stack, not only adds additional scalability overall, but also includes major upgrades to key features that meet the increasing demands of users.

Some specific 1.0 enhancements include:

  • New Federated Analytics Feature: For organizational, geographical or a myriad of other reasons, businesses sometimes do not want to merge disparate data sources but still need to easily analyze data stored across many separate clusters. More than simply search, our Tribe Node feature allows all of Elasticsearch's functionality to operate seamlessly across these clusters.
  • New Snapshot & Restore Capabilities: What used to be a complex process, is now as simple as a single request. Take incremental snapshots of your data and restore it on a granular basis -- quickly and easily.
  • More Robust Analytical Tools: Elasticsearch makes it easy to get insights into your business by asking specific queries across your organization's data. Now, with Aggregations, you can create more sophisticated analytics queries.
  • More Scalable "Alert-like" Functionality: Users love the "search in reverse" feature which lets them know when data they're interested in is added to their systems. Now redesigned and called Distributed Percolation, it's faster and able to scale with any business need.

"Organizations have been using Elasticsearch and the ELK stack at scale, pushing the boundaries of what we even thought possible. Elasticsearch 1.0 is the accumulation of everything we've learned as we've helped countless businesses deploy the Elasticsearch ELK stack," said Shay Banon, founder of Elasticsearch. "Business leaders want actionable insights, but they also want a solution that will have the scale, stability and robust features to grow as their business grows. That is what we are delivering with 1.0."

The incredibly versatile Elasticsearch ELK stack is used within thousands of organizations all over the world including Netflix, Yelp, Verizon, Foursquare, GitHub, Associated Press, Soundcloud, Facebook, and McGraw-Hill. Businesses use it for everything from providing the fastest search experience for their users, powering the entire backend of their mobile apps, to analyzing customer sentiment through social media channels.

The launch of Elasticsearch 1.0 comes weeks after the release of Elasticsearch Marvel, the company's first commercial product that helps system operators more easily monitor their deployments in real time. Marvel lets engineers see their Elasticsearch deployments in action, allows instant checkups, and provides historical data in context. The past year has been good to Elasticsearch, Inc., which saw revenue growth year over year of over 400% and reached six million cumulative downloads, at a pace of more than 450,000 downloads per month.

Pricing and availability
Elasticsearch 1.0 is available now on elasticsearch.org and from GitHub under an open source license.

Organizations can get Elasticsearch Marvel for free as well as access to the engineers that built the Elasticsearch ELK stack by subscribing to our annual support offerings. Elasticsearch training courses continue to be taught by the ELK developers in major cities throughout the world.
