Elections Canada Offices Are Open

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2008) -

- The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Marc Mayrand, announced today that local Elections Canada offices in all 308 federal electoral districts are now open. Election day for the 40th general election, set by the Governor in Council, will be Tuesday, October 14, 2008.

- All Canadian citizens who are at least 18 years old on election day are eligible to vote. Some 23,455,000 Canadians are registered on the preliminary lists of electors.

"Elections Canada offices are now open in 308 ridings across the country. Returning officers are there to answer your questions and to offer you several options to address your individual circumstances so you can vote in the way that is most convenient for you," says Mr. Mayrand.
