Elections Canada/Reminder Card and Details of New Voter Identification Rules Will Be Delivered to All Electors

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 27, 2008) - The Chief Electoral Officer of Canada, Marc Mayrand, announced today that the reminder card and details of the new voter identification rules will be delivered to every home in the electoral districts of Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River (Saskatchewan), Toronto Centre (Ontario), Vancouver Quadra (British Columbia) and Willowdale (Ontario).

"The reminder card alerts electors to contact the local Elections Canada office if they did not receive their voter information card, or if the card they received contains errors," said Mr. Mayrand.

Information on the new voter identification rules as well as the Chief Electoral Officer's list of acceptable pieces of identification will be included with the reminder card to inform electors about how to prove their identity and address when they vote.

Federal by-elections will be held in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River, Toronto Centre, Vancouver Quadra and Willowdale on Monday, March 17, 2008.

All electors must meet new voter identification requirements. For more information on the options available to electors, visit www.elections.ca.
