Electronic Health Records Developer, Medical Mime, Launches System for Substance Abuse Treatment Centers

EHR Extends Relationship Between Rehabs and Medical Mime's Parent Company, Medytox Solutions

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - Nov 6, 2014) - Psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other mental health professionals finally have an electronic health record (EHR) system created for their specific practice environments. Healthcare technology company, Medical Mime, announced today the introduction of a new EHR system tailored to therapists working at drug and alcohol treatment centers -- one of the markets Medical Mime's parent company, Medytox Solutions, Inc. (OTCBB: MMMS), serves. The new system was developed to address the wide range of clinical professionals who treat patients with chemical dependencies, many of whom have never used an EHR system before.

Like all of Medical Mime's technology offerings, the new system allows practitioners to enter their notes using dictation rather than typing a keyboard or tapping a touchscreen. This more intuitive approach saves clinicians valuable time and -- more importantly -- is the same method of recording health records most practitioners used during their professional training. The program uses natural language processing (NLP) to parse data. It's completely cloud-based, and therefore does not require any special computing investment. The system runs on either a desktop or tablet device.

"Despite the best of intentions, for thousands of clinicians the adoption of template-based EHRs has negatively affected their productivity," said Medical Mime acting CEO, Justin Doherty. "Our system allows the practitioner to do what they've always done: dictate their notes. This is especially attractive to therapists whose time is often billed by the hour."

Medytox Solutions, Inc., which operates toxicology laboratories throughout the U.S., purchased Medical Mime earlier this year. Medytox has carved a niche providing urine testing for drug and alcohol treatment facilities, and it recognized that an EHR designed specifically for this market would be an attractive and novel product. With this in mind, Medical Mime's first new product to market following its acquisition is the new EHR for drug and alcohol treatment facilities.

"Medical Mime is an ideal complement to the suite of services Medytox delivers to the rehab market," said Seamus Lagan, CEO of Medytox. "Between the urine testing services we provide, our laboratory information systems (LIS), and Medical Mime's EHR, we have a robust package of solutions for the professionals treating drug and alcohol dependence, no matter their practice environment."

About Medical Mime: Founded in 2010 by David Cooper and William Verhoeven, Medical Mime develops and markets cloud-based, electronic medical records (EHR), that use dictation-based note taking rather than template-based systems that rely on keyboard or touchscreen data entry. The company's easy-to-use software has been adopted by physicians in a range of medical specialties, including primary care, and a recent version was launched to serve therapists working in drug and alcohol treatment facilities. Medical Mime's software is certified for Meaningful Use Phase I and pending certification for Meaningful Use Phase II.
