Elementa and the Ontario Power Authority Finalize Energy-From-Waste Power Purchase Agreement

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON--(Marketwired - January 21, 2014) - Elementa Group Inc. has reached an agreement with the Ontario Power Authority to increase Ontario's energy supply through a new commercial-scale, energy-from-waste demonstration project in Sault Ste. Marie, announced today by David Orazietti, Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP).

Elementa Group Inc. (Elementa) will generate electricity at its signature municipal waste-fuelled plant to be built at Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. After a decade of development and planning, Elementa is preparing to introduce its proprietary, non-incineration-based commercial waste management solution and alternative energy technology to the market as it plans to redefine the waste-to-energy industry.

"Our government's landmark renewable energy strategy is leading the way in North America by supporting innovative alternative energy projects throughout the province that support high quality local jobs, reduce pressure on our electricity grid and help to clean the air we breathe," said David Orazietti, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie. "Elementa's new waste-to-energy project will further diversify our local economy and strengthens Sault Ste. Marie's position as a true green energy leader."

Elementa will operate the new plant designed for converting 50,000 tonnes of post-recycled municipal solid waste, providing further recycling capabilities to the local community and contributing 10 megawatts of capacity to Ontario's grid system, enough to supply upwards of 10,000 homes.

Elementa's technology uses a unique, patented and proprietary steam reformation chemistry that enables the generation of electricity while providing an alternative to landfilling residual waste streams. The Elementa plant is required to meet all Ontario Ministry of the Environment ("MOE") operational requirements. Elementa's technology is expected to surpass air, waste and water regulations prescribed by the MOE.

"We are proud to be locating our new plant at The City of Sault Ste. Marie and working with the City to bring our full-scale commercial plant into production," stated Jay Zwierschke, President, CEO and Founder of Elementa. "This project will complement and support the vision of Sault Ste. Marie as the 'Alternative Energy Capital of North America.'"

Elementa is preparing to complete all remaining project details and advance the project to construction phase. Project facts will be updated on a regular basis as Elementa is developing this milestone technology for the purposes of rapid deployment into the market.
