Elemica Discusses Global Supply Chain Visibility at TAG

VP Cindi Hane Says Visibility Is Key Driver for Effective Supply Chain Improvement Strategy

EXTON, PA--(Marketwired - Feb 9, 2015) - Elemica, the leading Supply Chain Operating Network provider for the process industries, announces that Cindi Hane, Vice President, Logistics Product Management, will be discussing global supply chain visibility at the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) Supply Chain & Logistics (SC&L) Society meeting. With visibility as the key driver for an effective supply chain improvement strategy, businesses today must rely on building collaborative relationships in their extended supply chains to gain visibility from end-to-end. To build more powerful relationships, extending across a critical mass of trading partners, companies need to utilize a robust platform like Elemica's supply chain operating network, which leads to increased visibility for continuous improvements in company performance, agility, and differentiation.

"While the definition of supply chain visibility differs among companies, it is still important to define what visibility means to a company, and then align processes to gain the specific kind of visibility needed and desired," said Cindi Hane, VP, Logistics Product Management of Elemica. "In order for global businesses to grow revenues, improve operational performance, and increase market share, they need to increase visibility into their extended supply chains. In other words, they need to know what is happening at any location at any one time. With end-to-end supply chain visibility, companies can gain an inventory savings of up to 20 percent of value, reduce freight costs between 3.5 and 5 percent of total volume, and increase forecast accuracy up to 25 percent."

In this panel discussion, TAG SC&L will discuss why global supply chain visibility is so elusive and present how new technologies and approaches are bringing innovative solutions to the problem. The panelists will also discuss the evolution of global supply chain visibility and the components of a global supply chain visibility technology solution of today. They will elaborate on how visibility is not just seeing what is happening now -- but predicting what will happen next. The TAG SC&L meeting takes place on Tuesday, February 10 from 6 - 8 PM at the UPS Auditorium in Atlanta, located at 55 Glenlake Parkway, Suite 590.

Aberdeen defines supply chain visibility as "the awareness of, and control over, specific information related to product orders and physical shipments, including transport and logistics activities, and the statuses of events and milestones that occur prior to and in-transit." Elemica's supply chain operating network gives visibility into global, complex supply chains, helping companies to understand lead-time variability, inventory discrepancies, rising transport costs, and more. More and more companies are turning to their supply chain organizations to reduce costs, which leads to greater profitability, while enabling speedier responses to changing customer demands, which leads to improved customer satisfaction.
