Elemica's Brian Selby Discusses How Managing Indirect Spend Delivers Cost Savings & Efficiency Improvements

Breakfast Seminar in Shanghai, China, Supports Growing Trend in Indirect Procurement Practice

EXTON, PA--(Marketwire - January 11, 2011) - Elemica, the industry-leading B2B supply chain network, announces that Brian Selby, Elemica's Senior Vice President, Asia, is speaking at the Making Services Procurement Work Breakfast Seminar on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Shanghai, China. The seminar, sponsored by CHaINA magazine and the Global Supply Chain Council, is focused on indirect procurement and will discuss opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

"Indirect procurement costs for things like equipment, office supplies, and janitorial services can get out of control without centralized procurement operations, collaboration across the enterprise, and visibility into procurement processes," said Brian Selby, Senior Vice President Asia, of Elemica. "E-Sourcing provides a faster, simpler and more transparent way to gain control over this spend without upending the existing procurement process."

According to a recent study by A. T. Kearny, indirect spending accounts for 60 percent of third-party spend in non-manufacturing companies, and 50 percent of spend in manufacturing organizations. The most successful indirect procurement organizational models have a central-led organization with collaboration across business units resulting in savings greater than 10%.

Besides Elemica, other speakers at the Breakfast Seminar include AzkoNobel and Schneider Electric. Topics of discussion include the emerging trend in the indirect procurement practice in China, how to better manage indirect spend, and how to develop a sourcing strategy specifically for indirect.

Brian Selby is responsible for Elemica's Asia operations, where he leads a multi-country team of sourcing and supply chain professionals to craft and implement tailored Sourcing and Supply Chain solutions for Elemica's customers throughout Asia. He has more than 18 years of experience in the chemical, plastics and tire industry, where his career has focused on managing business development, purchasing, logistics and e-commerce primarily in Asia-Pacific.

The Breakfast Seminar will take place on Tuesday, January 18, starting at 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Upon registration, the location in Shanghai, China will be given. Contact Joy Yong at jyong@supplychain.cn for more information.
