ST. THOMAS, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 17, 2015) - On May 21, 2015, Isaac NEUDORF Jr., of Elgin County, Ontario, pleaded guilty to three counts of animal cruelty under the Ontario SPCA Act after failing to comply with the prescribed standards of care.
The charges included:
- Failing to provide adequate and appropriate resting and sleeping area.
- Failing to provide adequate and appropriate food and water.
- Failing to provide adequate and appropriate protection from the elements, including harmful temperatures.
On November 18, 2014, Ontario SPCA Officers attended the address of the NEUDORF residence to follow up on a complaint for a dog without sufficient shelter.
A Great Dane was found to be chained to a boat and trailer on the property. She appeared to have attempted to escape the bitter cold by jumping into the craft. An order was issued to provide the animal with proper shelter to protect from the elements, as well as have the dog examined by a veterinarian for a thin body condition.
An Ontario SPCA Officer later returned to the address to follow up on compliance of the prescribed orders. The dog was found standing in filth, in a cold garage; she was unable to move due to an inadequate length of chain and had no food or water available. NEUDORF surrendered the dog into the care of the Society at that time.
The dog was examined by a veterinarian and found to be in extremely poor condition. Following a regiment of proper feeding and care, she regained her health and was subsequently adopted.

NEUDORF was sentenced and received two years probation, was ordered to pay a $2,000 fine and received a 15-year prohibition from owning, caring for, or living with any animal. He was also ordered to pay $106.44 in restitution to the Ontario SPCA. The Society has been granted permission to inspect the property to ensure compliance.
