Elsevier Business Intelligence Collaborates With Sitecore and Velir to Launch New Web Strategy

Sitecore CMS Helps Elsevier Business Intelligence Follow a Web First Method of Publishing

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Nov 21, 2011) - Sitecore and Velir announced today that Elsevier Business Intelligence (EBI) has launched a new website built by Velir on Sitecore's Content Management System (CMS). The new CMS provides a seamless workflow between MS Word, the Web and print worlds and the ability to search through EBI's catalog of 200,000+ articles. A subsidiary of Elsevier, EBI is a provider of healthcare information and analysis for senior executives in the medical device, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries.

"EBI's clients are senior executives and thought leaders in their fields -- and they've always recognized the value of our content," said Gerry Stoia, president, Elsevier Business Intelligence. "The new website gives our clients a faster, more accurate way to find and archive the information they need."

The new site includes a streamlined look, clearer layout and a simplified navigation structure making dynamic content easier and quicker to access. Up-to-the-minute news and insightful analysis on medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and related fields are grouped dynamically, making all information easily navigable directly from the home page. Site visitors will be able to quickly access EBI's comprehensive library of articles, newsletters, conference and webinar information, E-letters, blogs, reports and subscriber services.

Sitecore's Adaptive Print Studio technology enables EBI's Web designers and marketers to utilize Sitecore's Web platform as a central hub for all Adobe InDesign content as well as all document layouts and settings. Adaptive Print Studio works as plug-in to Adobe InDesign providing online access to work queue and the ability to pull content from the CMS directly into InDesign. In addition, a Microsoft Word plug-in was developed in order to streamline the content entry into the CMS with a tool that is more familiar to authors and editors. An enterprise wide Coveo Search implementation was integrated to index more than 200,000 articles.

"The new site consolidates what used to be three different authoring environments into a single unified authoring environment using Sitecore's CMS," said Adam Ribaudo, director of analysis & user experience, Velir. "This significantly reduces the training and maintenance burden on EBI's staff. The development of a site of this scale is a testament to the powerful capabilities of Sitecore's CMS software."
