Elsevier MDL Releases MDL Logistics 1.0; Effectively Manages Chemical Reagent Procurement and Inventory Tracking Needs of Research Centers

SAN LEANDRO, Calif.--(CCNMatthews - Sep 28, 2005) -

Elsevier MDL has introduced MDL® Logistics, a new reagent procurement and inventory management application developed in collaboration with customers to meet the needs of research organizations. MDL Logistics simplifies the process of locating, purchasing and tracking essential chemical materials and is the only effective solution on the market offering regulatory capabilities such as managing, tracking, and reporting on controlled substances in an organization.

"Researchers now have a comprehensive system that offers cradle-to-grave procurement and inventory management," said Dr. Trevor Heritage, Senior Vice President, Elsevier MDL Workflow Business Group. "MDL Logistics boosts researcher productivity, delivers cost savings through optimized reagent management and, importantly, allows researchers to focus on scientific tasks."

With MDL Logistics, all the tools to manage inventory are at a researcher's fingertips. MDL Logistics provides access to the MDL® Available Chemicals Directory database (the industry-standard collection of chemical supplier catalogs) as well as to the in-house inventory. It integrates with leading commercial purchasing systems and laboratory hardware devices (barcode printers, scanners, balances, inventory robotics), and offers support for multiple workflows at different sites.

Built on new-generation MDL® Isentris technology (the open-standard, tiered informatics platform for life sciences), MDL Logistics also allows organizations on a customization basis to add new data sources, including real-time supplier data.
