Bone Cancer is the only translational reference to cover all aspects of primary bone cancer and bone metastases, from basic science to clinical analysis and new therapeutic approaches. This second edition investigates key discoveries in the field of bone biology over the last five years that have led to the development of therapies, such as the combination of surgical and biological approaches. It expands on the original overview of bone cancer development from the first edition and offers many new chapters on the new concepts of bone cancer biology and therapy for both primary bone tumors and bone metastases. Given the global prevalence of breast and prostate cancers, knowledge of bone biology has become essential for everyone within the medical and cancer research communities.

The chapters were written by internationally recognized specialists on the bone cancer microenvironment, bone metastases, osteoclast biology in bone cancer, proteomics, bone niche, circulating tumor cells, and clinical trials. Editor Dr. Dominique Heymann is a Professor on the Faculty of Medicine, University of Nantes in France. He is Head of Pathophysiology of Bone Resorption and Therapy of Primitive Bone Tumors, INSERM in Nantes where the laboratory research group studies the pathogenesis of primary bone tumors, and more specifically, the role of bone microenvironment in tumor growth. Dr. Heymann is Associate Editor of Life Sciences and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Bone Oncology and the European Journal of Pharmacology, all Elsevier journals. He also works in editorial capacities for the journals: PLoS ONE, Open Bone Journal and Current Medicine Chemistry.

The four new books are:

The books are all available on the Elsevier Store and on ScienceDirect, Elsevier's full-text scientific database offering journal articles and book chapters from over 2,200 peer-reviewed journals and more than 25,000 book titles.

At the annual meeting the ASBMR will also present the William F. Neuman Award to Elsevier author Francis Glorieux, MD. It is the society's oldest and most prestigious award and it recognizes an ASBMR member for outstanding and major scientific contributions in the area of bone and mineral research, as well as for providing contributions to associates and trainees in teaching, research and administration. Dr. Glorieux is co-editor of two Elsevier books, Pediatric Bone, 2nd Edition: Biology & Diseases and Osteogenesis Imperfecta: A Translational Approach to Brittle Bone Disease.
