Dr. Beaton is a board certified Podiatrist who has been practicing Podiatry in St. Petersburg, Florida since 1970. Dr. Beaton has been a Florida Delegate to the American Podiatric Medical Association House of Delegates for over 25 years. In addition, he has served on the Executive Board of the Florida Podiatric Medical Association since 1971 where he has served as President, Vice President, First and Second, Secretary and Treasurer and Chairman of the Public Affairs Committee. He has also held the position of President, Vice President and Treasurer for the Pinellas County Podiatry Society. He received his undergraduate training at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois and his DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) degree from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Beaton serves as Vice Chairman of Governmental and Legislative Affairs Committee and Vice Chairman of Insurance Affairs Committee for the Florida Podiatric Medical Association. This year, Dr. Beaton was awarded the 2008 Podiatrist of the Year Award from the Florida Podiatric Medical Association, an award he has received a total of five times. Dr. Beaton has recently been selected as a recipient of the 2008 American Medical Association's Meritorious Service Award.
