Emerging Markets Communications Expands Houston, Texas Operations to Grow and Support Oil & Gas Customers

Located in the Energy Corridor and Features a Technology Demo Center to Test EMC's Satellite Network and Patented Applications

HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - March 03, 2015) - Global satellite (VSAT) and terrestrial communications services provider Emerging Markets Communications (EMC) announced today the opening of a new, expanded office in Houston, Texas to grow and support its oil and gas customers. The new office is located in Houston's Energy Corridor, at 3151 Briarpark, Suite 250, Houston, Texas, 77042 and features a technology demo center. Oil and gas companies are able to test their applications on EMC's global satellite network for both offshore and onshore field connectivity requirements. The demo will also be used to showcase EMC's patented technology and end-user applications that drive efficiency, increase reliability and lower costs of global satellite connectivity services.

"Our expanded operations in Houston is one of many investments we have made in the oil and gas industry to support our existing customers and grow our base within the market," said Abel Avellan, Founder and CEO of Emerging Markets Communications. "Our recent acquisitions of GIS, STM and GlobalIP, bring experience, customers, resources and products to EMC's portfolio, strengthening our energy communications services," he said. "The new Houston office and technology demo center, together with our increased services, patented technology, global infrastructure of teleports, field support centers, and satellite capacity, uniquely positions EMC to deliver the most cost-efficient, reliable connectivity within the oil and gas industry," said Avellan.

Test Drive EMC's C-Band Satellite Network
The technology demo center allows users to connect to EMC's C-Band Satellite Network, using a 2.4 meter antenna, mounted to the roof of the EMC's building. Interested parties can schedule a meeting, visit EMC's Houston office and connect their device to the satellite network.

Connect to Your Remote Site on EMC's Global Satellite Network from Houston
Companies can also connect to their remote sites, using EMC's Satellite Network in Houston, for up to three weeks. EMC engineers will design a pilot network and collaborate with the customer's technical teams to commission the bandwidth to a designated field site(s), such as an offshore rig or platform.

Experience Faster Internet Browsing Over Satellite With SpeedNet®
EMC's technology demo center also allows visitors to surf the internet, using EMC's satellite connectivity and its proprietary browser, SpeedNet®. The high-speed browser performs 66 percent faster than Google, Yahoo and Bing over satellite, and loads content and video up to 88 percent quicker.

SpeedNet® is an integral part of EMC's crew welfare services and improves the efficiency of allocated bandwidth to crew members, without increasing data rates. As a result, oil and gas companies lower the costs of their overall crew welfare services by leveraging SpeedNet®.

Affordable High Definition Telepresence System Over Satellite
EMC's technology demo also features its HD Connect® service, a patented technology, providing high definition tele-presence service operating over a satellite connection, on-demand.

HD Connect® enables high-quality, low-jitter and reliable tele-presence, leveraging the efficiency benefits of multicasting and Cisco's leading technology. EMC's HD Connect® service plans allow for on-demand usage, whereby customers only pay for the bandwidth that is used during each session.

Oil and gas companies use HD Connect® for large scale video conferences in high-risk security environments, such as Iraq, where travel is restricted and dangerous. Additional applications for HD Connect® include Doctor On-Board and security monitoring in the field.
