Emergisoft and Crystal Cruises Partner to Provide Electronic Health Records to Guests and Crew Onboard Luxury Ships

ARLINGTON, TX--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - Emergisoft and Crystal Cruises, the world's finest luxury cruise line, are pleased to announce a partnership to deliver Electronic Health Records (EHR) to Crystal Cruises' guests and crew. Crystal Cruises will implement Emergisoft Maritime, the first EHR solution designed specifically for cruise ship healthcare, and targeted to the unique challenges of the cruise ship healthcare setting, including illegible documentation and health agency reporting.

Powered by EmergisoftED Anywhere, Emergisoft Maritime streamlines the interaction between medical staff, crew, and guests by utilizing a portable and paperless Electronic Health Record (EHR). By automating triage, tracking, nurse & physician documentation, and reporting, Emergisoft Maritime provides a legible medical record, which will increase the quality of the physicians' supporting documentation and eliminates time consuming manual reporting processes. Emergisoft Maritime also provides real-time reporting of key patient metrics in order to deliver more effective outbreak management and preventative care onboard the ships.

By implementing Emergisoft Maritime, Crystal Cruises will be providing guests and crew with efficient and high quality medical services. All medical information will be held in one organized location, but accessible from anywhere, so physicians onboard the ships can quickly and easily document patient care, improving accuracy and reducing the chance for errors. This revolutionary solution is the first of its kind to address the unique challenges of the cruise ship healthcare environment: part emergency care, part occupational medicine, and part primary care center.

With Emergisoft Maritime, the crew and guests onboard Crystal Cruises will have accessible electronic health records across the fleet, for the first time in company history. Crystal Cruises' passengers can rest easy knowing that they benefit from secure and confidential electronic health records when traveling onboard.

"Our goal is to provide guests with the finest experience in luxury travel, including health care. With Emergisoft Maritime, we will have the tools to meet the unique demands of cruise medicine," said Tiffany Schlerf, Manager of Safety & Environment of Crystal Cruises. "We look forward to working with Emergisoft on this new endeavor that will take passenger and crew health care to the next level."

"We created Emergisoft Maritime to address the unique challenges of maritime medicine: global access to historical medical records, illegible documentation, and onerous manual reporting. Emergisoft Maritime will positively impact the patient and clinician experience on the ship by providing a safe, healthy, and secure environment for both the guests and crew," said Jordan Davis, CEO of Emergisoft. "For the first time, electronic health records for every person onboard the ships will be accessible in a legible format, worldwide, which will result in increased patient safety and high quality patient care."

Crystal Cruises was created in 1988 with a vision to set a completely new standard in luxury travel and world exploration. Crystal Cruises operates the two top-rated luxury ships in the world: the 922-guest Crystal Symphony and the 1,070-guest Crystal Serenity. Crystal's mission is to provide excellent service to their customers by providing them with high quality services.

"I am excited to see Emergisoft Maritime leverage the EmergisoftED Anywhere engine for remote health care. Moving the EmergisoftED Anywhere platform into the maritime patient care facilities allows for clear, concise, and accurate electronic medical records for both the Crystal Cruise Lines and their crew and guests," said Charlie Kesinger, Emergisoft's Chief Operating Officer. "We are excited about having Crystal Cruise Lines as a partner in providing the best health care possible in remote locations."
