CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - September 13, 2016) - Geri Lynn Baumblatt, Executive Director of Patient Engagement at Emmi, will speak at Stanford Medicine X's 2016 conference. Baumblatt is a patient engagement expert and author who is a regular speaker at multiple health care conferences and also sits on the board of the Journal of Patient Experience. This is her third time speaking at Stanford MedX.
The conference will take place September 12-18, 2016 at Stanford's campus in California. This year's event brings together healthcare experts from 69 countries to discuss emerging, disruptive technologies that will impact the future delivery of health care.
Baumblatt's main presentation in the design track, "When is technology better than a human? Designing for honest disclosure, confidence, and action," will explore how multimedia programs and interactive voice response (IVR) phone calls can leverage design to help address stress and strong emotions, and capitalize on the existing benefits of a virtual setting.
"I look forward to Stanford Medicine X every year because the patient voice is baked into the event's DNA, and this year's discussion of how technology will impact the future of healthcare is particularly important," Baumblatt said. "At Emmi, we know providers face limited time and resources while patients are hungry for the information they need to make important medical decisions. We believe technology, when designed and implemented effectively, can bridge this gap by extending the reach of the care team to help people navigate the healthcare system and manage their health -- even outside the four walls of the hospital."
In addition to her presentation, Baumblatt will be part of two panel discussions: "How patient engagement and gamification correlate with hypertension control," in the Research track, and "Integrative Medicine in the U.S.," in the ePatient track.
