Empire Energy Group Ltd: Fracking Their Way to the Top, in Business Review Australia

Empire Energy Is Leading the Way in Oil and Gas Exploration on Both Sides of the Pacific Ocean

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jun 14, 2012) - Empire Energy Group Ltd's company history may be rooted in gold mining, but a timely move into the energy sector proved to be just the ticket for this growing Australian company.

As Jason Mining, the company listed on the ASX in 1984. A joint venture agreement between their parent company, Imperial Corporation Ltd, and a US-based energy enterprise led to their entry into the overseas oil and gas industry in 2006. As business picked up and the company expanded across the US, their name was changed to Empire Energy Group Ltd to unite the American and Australian branches under the same umbrella.

The move onto American soil was an ideal business venture: the oil and gas sector is among the largest industries in the country, the laws and standards are clearly defined, and there is no language barrier. "It was an opportunity to start at ground level and build the company up to a substantial size," said Bruce McLeod, Empire Energy's Executive Chairman and CEO. Today, 95 per cent of the company's operations are in the US.

In 2010, the Northern Territory's McArthur Basin was identified as a hydrocarbon-rich region. So far, Empire Energy has acquired seven license applications covering 14.6 million acres to explore shale oil and gas in this area.

Between 2006 and 2011, the company had completed $120 million worth of oil and gas production projects -- and they are still growing.
