Empire Industries Ltd. Announces Appointment of Allan Francis as Corporate Secretary

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 28, 2007) - Empire Industries Ltd., (TSX VENTURE:EIL) ("Empire"), one of Western Canada's fastest growing steel fabrication and construction service providers, today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Allan Francis to the office of Corporate Secretary.

In addition to the duties of Corporate Secretary, he will continue to work in the general areas of risk management, commercial management, marketing and branding, acquisition due diligence and corporate governance. He has over fifteen years of business experience, including extensive terms with steel fabricators Canron and Dominion Bridge, where he developed a reputation for excellence in all of the above areas. Mr. Francis holds a law degree from the University of Manitoba and an M.B.A. from the Ivey School of Business in London, Ontario.
