Empirix Writes the Book on IMS Quality

Company Offers Distinct Insight Into Key Testing and Monitoring Issues Affecting IMS Adoption

BEDFORD, MA--(Marketwire - June 13, 2007) - Empirix® Inc., which helps organizations adopt complex communications solutions with confidence, announced today that it has written a book on building test and monitoring coverage for IMS adoption, targeted to those responsible for verifying and maintaining the integrity of new IMS-based devices, applications and networks. Created from a test and network engineering perspective, Empirix offers insight on key testing and monitoring tools required for the new IMS "world," based on the company's experience working with numerous vendors and service providers. In addition, Empirix has also delivered dozens of seminars and workshops to companies that have put together migration plans, trials and assessments for VoIP/NGN to IMS-enabled core application networks.

Unlike any other IMS resource available, Empirix's book, titled "Ensuring a Quality Experience: A Practical Guide to Testing and Monitoring IP Multimedia Subsystems and Services," is designed to be a reference guide on the following topics:

--  Testing IMS devices;
--  Real-world IMS network issues, and how to test and monitor them;
-- Strategies for testing new IMS-based applications; and
-- Industry best practices for ensuring quality in IMS products,
    applications and networks before and after deployment.

To gather the book's content, Empirix tapped the more than 100 collective years of industry experience of its authors, which includes real-world experience as well as that of the dozens of vendor and service provider customers they've worked with throughout their careers.

"The ability to quickly diagnose and resolve system issues is the fundamental element of service assurance that operators require to meet their customers' expectations of reliable, high-quality service," said Bruce McLeod, Executive Director, Voice Technology & Engineering, Cox Communications. "The operators that conquer these challenges will be the ones to succeed in the next generation services environment. Guidelines like those discussed in this book form the foundation of a reliable service framework in IMS."

"We have spent the last two years working closely with our customers and various industry groups to understand the challenges in implementing and ensuring quality in IMS networks," said Chad Hart, Author of the book and Product Marketing Manager at Empirix. "We realized the market could truly benefit from this valuable insight and decided to publish our findings. As important as IMS has become to the world of telecom over the past couple of years, it is still a relatively immature technology that faces many struggles. We wanted to not only inform the world about some of these issues, but also show how these challenges could be overcome. IMS quality is possible and we hope by having a book like this people can successfully develop and deploy the IMS architecture with much more confidence than they did before."

To date, all of the world's Top 10 NEMs and virtually all of the top service providers use Empirix's Hammer solutions.
