Empirum Paves the Way for the Future of Microsoft OS Installations

matrix42's Empirum Is First to Automate Installations of Windows Vista™

ATLANTA, GA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 13, 2006 -- matrix42, a leading developer of system management software, today previewed a version of Empirum that enables enterprise-wide distribution of the Microsoft Windows Vista™ operating system. The solution fully automates the activities involved in migrating computers to Windows Vista, which is scheduled for general availability in early 2007. Windows Vista Beta 2 is available now.

A unique component of Empirum is its differentiated driver mapping technology. Empirum's automated hardware recognition facilitates an automated installation of the Vista OS independent of underlying hardware.

In a report published in April 2006, Gartner estimates that the corporate process of migrating to Vista can take up to 18 months.(1) According to Holger Maul, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of matrix42, "The new Empirum technology can help enterprises shorten this process dramatically. Empirum is the first to support automated distribution and remote installation of the new Vista OS."

Additionally, Maul outlines three basic questions that must be addressed by corporations planning to deploy Vista OS:

1. Which hardware meets the system requirements of Vista? matrix42's
Empirum product enables administrators to learn at the push of a
button which systems do not meet these requirements.

2. Which existing applications are compatible with the new operating
system? Empirum performs a check on previously installed software
to identify potential compatibility problems prior to a roll-out.

3. Are user data and settings backed up? Nothing is more laborious
and time-consuming than recreating the configuration of a PC.
Empirum can automatically reproduce and migrate each user's data
and settings following the successful migration to Vista.
matrix42's suite of Empirum products supports lifecycle management for networked devices, helping to reduce total cost of ownership (TCO). With Empirum, companies are able to achieve dramatic and long-term savings on their IT operational costs, while increasing their flexibility and efficiency. matrix42 customers include such leading names as T-Systems, Gerling and ING-DiBa. matrix42 corporate headquarters are located near Frankfurt, Germany, with branch offices in Vienna and Zurich. The company also maintains a U.S. subsidiary in Atlanta.
