Employee Spring Cleaning Donations Help Restock Local Agency's Clothing Closet

TopLine Employees Fill CEAP's Closet During "Donating for Denim Days"

MAPLE GROVE, MN--(Marketwire - Jun 7, 2012) - For six weeks employees of TopLine Federal Credit Union exchanged donations of clothing to the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) Clothing Closet for the opportunity to wear jeans to work on Fridays and Saturdays. When the program ended on May 31, 2012, nearly all TopLine's just over 90 employees had donated over 1,200 clothing items to assist local families in need.

TopLine employees were able to participate by donating gently used clothing to the CEAP clothing drive in exchange for a "Denim Days" sticker, allowing them to wear jeans to work on specific days during the program.

"Each year, TopLine is proud to be able to help organizations like the Community Emergency Assistance Program in a number of ways, and this was an exceptional showing by our employees for Donating for Denim Days," says Harry Carter, TopLine president and CEO. "CEAP's donations have been down this past year while at the same time they have been seeing a huge rise in families in crisis. Every donation, small or large, helps make a difference and we are always glad to lend a hand."

Since 2002, TopLine Federal Credit Union employees and members have been involved in several programs each year to benefit CEAP, including drives for food and household supplies, children's back-to-school supplies, adult and children's clothing, helping with holiday donations to families in need, volunteering to assist elderly individuals with yard work and involvement with Meals on Wheels.

CEAP (Community Emergency Assistance Program), serving Hennepin and Anoka Counties, is a community-based, non-profit agency that partners with other resources to assist people in need. The mission of CEAP is to stabilize individuals and families in financial distress and to maximize their ability to live independently and with dignity. CEAP's Clothing Closet is where families in need can shop for donated, gently used clothing. The Closet is a free service, available January through November, to all Minnesota residents.
