Employees at TopLine Federal Credit Union Named Statewide Dora Maxwell Award Winners

Award Recognizes Employees' Contributions to Local Communities

MAPLE GROVE, MN--(Marketwire - September 8, 2010) -  For the fifth time in six years, employees at TopLine Federal Credit Union took home first place honors in the statewide Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award program for credit unions. The award is presented by the Minnesota Credit Union Network and the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and honors credit union employees for participating in activities to support local communities which demonstrate the cooperative credit union philosophy of "People-Helping-People."

This year's award recognizes TopLine's commitment to several worthwhile causes which benefit the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP), AccountAbility Minnesota, BestPrep, and Children's Miracle Network and Gillette Children's Healthcare. TopLine's ongoing commitment of hosting numerous financial education sessions for all ages and across a wide variety of topics was also recognized.

TopLine's award entry highlighted the success of an employee-driven clothing and shoe drive, called "Denim Days." TopLine employees donated over 1,000 pieces of clothing to the Community Emergency Assistance Program's Clothing Closet, a local, community-based, non-profit organization that supports people in need. In exchange for participating, employees enjoyed the opportunity to wear jeans on Fridays throughout the fund-raising period.

"In these economic times, our communities' need for donations is greater than ever with fewer people and organizations donating," said Harry Carter, president and CEO at TopLine. "Our employees have a long-standing commitment to helping those in need in the Twin Cities and we are proud of the support for social responsibility consistently demonstrated at all levels of our organization."

The competition is named after Dora Maxwell, who was a credit union pioneer who worked with several organizations to improve the living standards of the poor. The award program was created in 1987 to promote social responsibility among credit unions by formally recognizing their employees' social achievements. Award entries are considered based on the size of the credit union and a winner is chosen in each of the six size categories.
