EmpowHER Launches Healthy Living Facebook Campaign

Leading Social Health Company for Women Launches Digital Engagement Contest Aimed at Spreading Healthy Ideas

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Nov 14, 2011) - Leading the charge in social health, EmpowHER, an award-winning social health company for women, launches today the "EmpowHER Your Health" campaign, a Facebook contest for its rapidly growing audience of more than 16,700 fans. The goal of the campaign is for users to share their ideas about healthy living. Each week, winning ideas will be chosen and awarded with health or fitness-related prizes.

According to Pew Research, 33% of women seek peer interaction in social networks about their health. Facebook is extremely popular with EmpowHER's core audience -- women. According to TechCrunch, Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook, notes that women are not only the majority of its users, but drive 62% of activity in terms of messages, updates and comments, and 71% of the daily fan activity.

The contest will run for a total of 12 weeks, with a new question being asked every two weeks. During each question interval, audience members will have the opportunity to share their answers with their existing Facebook network of friends, and can collect "votes" for their answers. Answers with the most votes, along with answers chosen from a panel of EmpowHER judges, will receive health and wellness related prizes. Interactive questions highlighted during the contest will include:

  • What's one thing you've done this year to be healthier?
  • How will you watch your waistline this holiday season?
  • How will you stay stress-free this holiday season?
  • How will you EmpowHER your health in the New Year?
  • What did you do to start the year off right?
  • What are you doing to stay on track for a healthy 2012?
