EmpowHER Launches Special Resource Page for Women in Honor of National Women's Health Week

Page Features Informative Videos, Unique Content, Access to Health Events Across the Country, and Live Social Media Feed

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - May 6, 2011) - It's now easier for women to find information related to National Women's Health Week (NWHW), a health observance coordinated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health from May 8 - 14, through EmpowHER's special resource page, which was created in honor of this event.

Since women are often the primary caretakers of the family, it is easy to lose focus on their own health and wellness. National Women's Health Week empowers women to make their health a top priority. It also encourages them to take steps to improve their physical and mental health and lower their risks of certain diseases.

On EmpowHER's special page, titled "Focusing On Women's Health," women can find the following related to this observance: specially produced videos from EmpowHER on ways women can advocate for their own health and wellness; a variety of unique content related to some of the most popular health topics on EmpowHER; information on important health screenings; a live twitter feed of activity related to women's health during this week; personal health stories from remarkable EmpowHER writers and patient advocates Jennifer Jaff and Trisha Torrey; and access to NWHW events women can participate in within their own communities.

EmpowHER has also created specially produced videos from its staff members, explaining how they will honor National Women's Health Week, which can be seen on EmpowHER's Facebook page.

"National Women's Health Week is a good time for us as women to renew our commitment to taking personal responsibility for our own health and well-being," says Dr. Archelle Georgiou, EmpowHER's Chief Clinical Officer. "We all know what to do: exercise 150 minutes a week, eat a healthy diet, and sleep 7-9 hours a night. Also, let's make it a priority to stay connected with friends and take time to de-stress... it's good for the soul and the immune system. We have to take good care of ourselves if we want to continue to be healthy and care for others."
