EmpowHER Wins Three Prestigious Awards and Serves as a Catalyst for Community Member's Personal Recognition

Women's Health Media Company Earns Esteemed Industry Accolades and Inspires Christina Cyphers to Change Her Life and Advocate for Others

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - November 18, 2010) - Women's health media company EmpowHER -- home to Top 5 women's health and wellness site EmpowHER.com -- was recently recognized with healthcare and marketing and media industry awards for its work in women's health and wellness. Awards included: The MarCom Gold Award, the 2010 Aesculapius Award of Excellence, and the eHealthcare Leadership Award of Distinction. Although these awards highlight the Company's strong commitment to women's health and wellness, it is another honor -- one that was awarded to EmpowHER.com active community member, Christina Cyphers -- that truly reinforces the company's vision and impact. EmpowHER aims to educate and empower readers with community support and informative content, and it was in interacting with EmpowHER that inspired Cyphers to take control of her life and make positive changes that later garnered a Lifestyle Change Award from the American Heart Association's Baltimore/Washington Chapter.

Cyphers comes from a family of 13 adopted children and struggled with many health issues from a very early age. This was compounded by the fact that she had no information about her genetic history to help understand these issues. Her ailments include high cholesterol, alopecia, microscopic colitis and osteoporosis. She also was diagnosed with premature ovarian failure in 2008 and, at 32 years of age, was sent into emergency surgery for a complete hysterectomy. Following the surgery, depressed and struggling for answers her doctor could not give her, Cyphers found EmpowHER.com while surfing the Web from her hospital bed.

According to Cyphers, finding EmpowHER was a life-changing experience. "EmpowHER has been the missing resource I have been looking for all this time," she said. "Through the information I found on the site and listening to founder Michelle King Robson's personal hysterectomy story, I realized that I AM the change that I needed in order to change my life." Because of this realization and her subsequent actions, Cyphers now properly regulates her hormones, regularly visits her doctors, walks daily, changed her eating habits and has lost 58 pounds since May 2009. She has also started her own wig line and is now a motivational speaker.

"I am so thrilled that Christina found EmpowHER, and that her experience truly changed her health and her life," said Robson, who actually met Cyphers when they were at the same osteoporosis event in Washington, D.C. in May 2009. "Our mission is to improve women's health and change their lives, and it warms my heart to know that we were there for Christina when she needed it most."

Robson goes on to say, "These awards from esteemed leaders in the healthcare and marketing and media industries is a real honor for us, and further validates that EmpowHER is filling a need, not just a want, for our women -- the Chief Health and Wellness Officers of the home. Women are taking charge of their health and well-being, and are doing the same for their families ever more emphatically. We're happy to help them find their voice and the necessary resources to support their efforts, and to have industry peers recognize our work."

EmpowHER's awards include:
