Emptoris' Spend Analysis and EMEA Directors Named as "Pros to Know" by Supply & Demand Chain Executive

DeMartino, Courregelongue, and Rudzki Honored as Supply Chain Leaders Driving Strategic Transformation

BURLINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 20, 2007 -- Emptoris, a leading provider of enterprise supply and contract management software, announced today that Bill DeMartino, Emptoris' Director of Spend Analysis, and Philippe Courregelongue, Emptoris' Director of Consulting Services for Europe (EMEA), were honored with Supply and Demand Chain Executive's 2007 "Pros to Know" award in the provider category.

In addition, Robert A. Rudzki, author and former CPO of Bayer Corporation, who is a member of the Emptoris advisory board, also received a "Pros to Know" award in the former practioners category. Mitch Plaat, CPO of Con-way, Inc., an Emptoris customer, was also honored as a practioner "Pro to Know."

The Supply & Demand Chain Executive "Pros to Know" awards are an annual listing of individuals in the supply management and procurement fields that have helped increase recognition of the strategic importance of supply management within the global enterprise.

The publication noted that DeMartino "has been an evangelizer for spend analysis, highlighting its evolution from solely a sourcing aid into a more strategic tool that can help supply chain and C-level executives gain true visibility into enterprise-wide spend."

Of Courregelongue, the publication wrote, "[He] has helped pioneer the use of Web-based auctions ... and has been helping C-level executives across Europe and in the United States ... to understand that Procurement has the potential to extend strategic supply management practices into virtually every possible category."

"By turning the spotlight on these Pros to Know, we are not only recognizing their accomplishments but also offering them as role models for other executives looking to take their own organizations to a higher, more strategic level," said Andrew K. Reese, editor of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. "This year's Provider Pros to Know have shown themselves to be thought-leaders in their respective supply chain segments. Their efforts in developing the tools and processes necessary for supply chain transformation, and in promoting new approaches to supply chain enablement, are helping raise Supply Chain's status within the enterprise."

The publication noted that Rudzki, author of "Beat the Odds" and co-author of "On-Demand Supply Management," has "exemplified the role and impact that the chief supply officer can have in improving corporate performance while holding top-level Procurement positions at Bayer Corp. and Bethlehem Steel Corp."

Mitch Plaat, Chief Procurement Officer at Con-way Inc, the $4.2 billion transportation and logistics services company which uses the Emptoris Sourcing and Emptoris Spend Analysis solutions, was honored as one of just the handful of "Pros to Know" in the practioner category.
