Empty Cubicle Creates Social Mission Through the Upside Foundation

Company Pledges to the 1-1-1 Mission

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - May 14, 2015) - Today, Empty Cubicle made a significant step forward in our future success. We pledged a small percent of our company's options to the Upside Foundation of Canada, a registered Canadian charity. At a future point in time, these options will be converted to cash and donated to charities in the areas of education, poverty and technology.

"Making this formal commitment from the very beginning is a part of our corporate culture. It will allow our employees to work together towards a greater goal -- sharing our future success with our community," said Eric Riz, Founder and CEO of Empty Cubicle.

"As we realize the dream to grow Empty Cubicle, we will now be able to help others with their dreams of achieving an education, supporting their children and ensuring that newcomers to Canada, as well as current citizens, can use and understand basic technology so that companies like ours, and those of the next generation, can flourish," said Riz.

The 1-1-1 Pledge invites all entrepreneurs and their companies to commit important resources (product, equity and time) to support integrating philanthropy into their business from an early stage.

"When it comes to philanthropy, I have one pitch, and it's been the same since the founding of our company 15 years ago: the 1-1-1 model of integrated corporate philanthropy," said Marc Benioff, Chairman & CEO, Salesforce.

The idea behind both Pledge 1% and Upside Foundation is to make it easy for any company or person to integrate philanthropy into their business model from the beginning. "By joining the Pledge 1% movement early, companies can set themselves up to make incredible impact," said Suzanne DiBianca, president of the Salesforce Foundation. The Salesforce Foundation, a pioneer of corporate philanthropy, is a co-founder of Pledge 1%.
