eMusic Adds Sub Pop Records to Label Roster

Nirvana, Fleet Foxes and The Shins Join Expanding Catalogue

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 16, 2010) -  eMusic today announced that it has added renowned Seattle independent label Sub Pop Records to its worldwide label roster. eMusic members can now get music downloads from groundbreaking artists like Nirvana, Mudhoney, Sebadoh and the Afghan Whigs, and critically acclaimed newcomers like The Shins, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine and Wolf Parade.

"eMusic members have long been asking for artists on the Sub Pop label and we're very excited to announce this major addition to our catalogue," said Danny Stein, eMusic CEO and President. "As we continue to build the value of the eMusic club with new and old label partners, eMusic becomes an even more compelling destination for fans that want to expand their music collections. Combined with other new initiatives, we're looking forward to continued growth of the eMusic service in 2010."

"We have long seen the value in working with eMusic and are thrilled to be able to take part in their service," said Sub Pop owner and President Jonathan Poneman. "We look forward to finally getting down to business."

eMusic plans to curate the Sub Pop catalogue in a variety of ways, including "Six Degrees" features that show how classic records like Nirvana's Bleach and The Postal Service's Give Up are related to other albums by peers and influences, as well as reviews and integration into album hubs contextualizing modern rock and other genres.
