Enbridge Gears Up as National Title Sponsor of the Ride to Conquer Cancer

The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer in Alberta takes place on June 25 and 26

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - June 21, 2011) - As the proud national title sponsor for the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, Enbridge (TSX:ENB) (NYSE:ENB) is gearing up to help the Alberta Cancer Foundation realize its vision for cancer-free lives today, tomorrow and forever.

Following on the heels of the successful Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer events in Ontario and British Columbia, cyclists in Alberta will demonstrate their commitment to the fight against cancer by cycling 250 kilometres through the picturesque Rocky Mountains of Alberta. This unique event raises funds to benefit the Alberta Cancer Foundation, supporting efforts to advance breakthrough research and provide innovative treatments and critical services to those in need.

"The Alberta Cancer Foundation has played a pivotal role in advancing cancer research and care in the province and events like the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer only help that progression to ultimately make a difference in the lives of cancer patients," says Alberta Cancer Foundation Chief Development Officer Nick Locke. "It's for the benefit of all Canadians that sponsors like Enbridge have stepped up to drive development towards a cancer-free future."

The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer is the largest cycling fundraiser in Canadian history and Enbridge is proud to be the national title sponsor across Canada from 2011 - 2013. The event has raised more than $88 million for cancer research treatment and care at the B.C. Cancer Foundation, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, the Princess Margaret Hospital and the Jewish General Hospital.

This year's events have already turned out phenomenal fundraising numbers with $17.5 million and $11.1 million raised in Ontario and B.C. respectively. The Alberta ride is looking to surpass the $7.3 million raised last year in Alberta.

"I, like most Canadians, have been impacted by cancer directly and I'm proud to be participating in the ride for my third consecutive year," says Vern Yu, Vice President, Business Development and Asset Management at Enbridge. "Last year, Enbridge's inaugural sponsorship of this event in Alberta, our Alberta team raised over $250,000 for cancer research. We were proud then and we're even more proud this year to announce that our team has so far raised almost half a million dollars for cancer research." At press time the Enbridge Alberta ride team has raised over $425,000.

This year's Alberta Ride is June 25-26. Enbridge encourages everyone to participate by sponsoring a friend, family member or colleague in their effort to help make this event a great success. Visit www.conquercancer.ca to pledge or volunteer your time to help at the event.
