Encorp Pacific (Canada): Walnut Grove Bottle & Return Centre Promotes the Rewards of Responsible Recycling

BURNABY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 13, 2008) - Authorized Encorp Pacific (Canada) Return-It Depot, Walnut Grove Bottle & Return Centre, is getting involved in a province-wide initiative to build awareness and participation in BC's beverage container recycling program.

The recycling promotion, dubbed 'Return-It to Win-It', will run for two months from Thursday, May 1 to Monday, June 30, 2008. On top of receiving the usual refund, members of the community get a chance to enter to win a grand prize Broil King barbeque each time they bring in their empty beverage containers to Walnut Grove Bottle & Return Centre. On Sunday, May 18, 2008 from 2pm to 6pm, the site will celebrate beverage container recycling with a fun family event that will feature an appearance by Return-It Man, giveaways and special prizes, including a digital camera.

Walnut Grove Bottle & Return Centre is just one of 42 centres in BC participating in the campaign. Encorp Pacific (Canada) is determined to unite all communities across the province to really embrace proper beverage container recycling practices. "There's no doubt that people know recycling is great for the environment. But we also want them to know that it's easy to make it a routine in their lives, especially with the convenience and proximity of a local Return-It Depot to help them recycle responsibly," says Malcolm Harvey, Encorp Pacific. "Returning even just one aluminum can saves enough energy to light a 100 watt light bulb for three and a half hours. Every little bit helps."

In 2007, Encorp recycled enough aluminum cans to light a 100 watt bulb for every man, woman, and child in BC for eight hours a day for about five weeks. They also recycled a total of over 90,000 tonnes of aluminum, plastic, glass and paper - the equivalent of more than 278,000 barrels of oil. As Mr. Harvey explains, "The fewer barrels of oil we use, the less carbon dioxide we release into the atmosphere, so what we do does have a direct impact on BC's air quality."

Walnut Grove Bottle & Return Centre is located at #2-4 9640 201st Street in Langley and is open daily from 9am to 6pm. For more information and a list of all participating depots, visit encorp.ca.
