Encorp Pacific has opened its first Return-It Express Depot in Yaletown, Vancouver, introducing a brand new and more efficient way of returning used beverage containers.

The Yaletown Return-It Express Depot features a new automated kiosk that allows customers to simply drop off their bag of used beverage containers and go on with their day, without the extra step of sorting them first. The sorting and counting is done by staff behind the scenes and the refunds are then credited to the customer's online account. Customers can redeem those refunds for a cheque, e-gift cards or the funds can even be donated to a charitable organization.

"Return-It Express is designed for densely populated areas like downtown Vancouver where there are not many options for residents to return used beverage containers for refund," says Scott Fraser, President and CEO of Encorp Pacific. "This new and innovative system makes the recycling process much simpler and more convenient for everyone. We hope this easy to use system will encourage even more people to keep beverage containers out of the landfills."

How Return-It Express works:

  • To begin, set up an online account at express.return-it.ca.
  • Put all your refundable containers into clear or blue bags and take them to Return-It Express.
  • Simply tag the bag(s) and place them into the kiosk and be on your way.
  • The empty containers are sorted and counted by Return-It staff and the deposits are credited to your online account. The refunds can be redeemed for a

cheque, gift cards or even a charitable donation.

British Columbia already has one of the highest beverage container recycling rates in North America. Last year 80.1 per cent of all beverage containers sold in British Columbia were recycled. That equals almost 1 billion used beverage containers that were processed into new products. That includes 356 million aluminum cans, 340 million plastic bottles, 198 million glass bottles and 69 million drink boxes and cartons.

Yaletown Return-It Express Depot is open seven days a week and is located at 1387 Richards Street, Vancouver.
