Encouraging Results on Newstrike's Kirkland Lake East Property

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 15, 2008) - Newstrike Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NR) -

Since mid summer preliminary exploration has been underway on the newly acquired Kirkland Lake East property (see June 2, 2008 release). A few kilometers east of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, the property straddles highway 66, the ONR railway and a power line corridor.

Previous work on the property included test mining, to a depth of 1600 feet (489 m), and milling within an area of about 15% of the favourable volcanic horizon on the property. The gold mineralization in the underground workings was associated with a fault striking North 30 East. This structure crossing the favourable volcanic horizon has been identified at five other unexplored locations on the property.

Work underway on the property consists of stripping to expose bedrock, rock sampling for gold and silver and shallow diamond drilling on and in the vicinity of the N30E structures. On newly exposed bedrock approximately 150 samples have been recovered at one metre centres from drill cuttings of holes one metre deep.

A review of the assay data indicates the presence of exceptional anomalous gold as indicated by the following results. A group of 46 consecutive samples average 2.75 grams per tonne (g/t) gold. Discarding a high grade assay reduces the average grade to 0.92 g/t. A second group of 45 consecutive samples average 1.16 g/t gold and within this group four consecutive samples average 9.36 g/t gold.

These results and the potential of mineralization presently being tested explain why management is so pleased with the preliminary work. Much more intensive exploration on the property is justified, including more representative sampling, an induced polarization geophysical survey and extensive diamond drilling.
