Energy Aware Technology Announces Australian In-Home Display Pilot

ZigBee Certified Display To Be Deployed in 2,200 Homes

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 31, 2011) - Energy Aware Technology Inc., a Canadian developer of in-home power consumption display products, announced today that their PowerTab has been launched in a 2,200 home trial with Synergy Electricity Retail Corporation and Western Power in Western Australia as part of the Australian Government's $94M Solar Cities program. The PowerTab is an in-home display (IHD) device that provides residential customers with real-time data on their power consumption, current and up-coming electricity rates as well as text messages from their utility service provider.

"This is an exciting initiative because it provides households with a visible signal of the electricity they are using, and often wasting, and how much it is costing at any point in time," said Synergy spokesperson, Andrew Gaspar.

"The Energy Aware PowerTab is an important ZigBee Certified product for ZigBee Smart Energy offering critical in-home display capabilities that can help consumers be more environmentally aware," said Benno Ritter, vice president of marketing and business development at the ZigBee Alliance. "As more Smart Grid deployments are made, these displays will serve a vital role as one of the key conduits that help consumer gain greater control over their home energy use."
