Energy Giants Call For Higher CO2 Emissions Targets, an Industrial Info News Alert

GALWAY, IRELAND--(Marketwire - March 9, 2011) -  Written by Martin Lynch, European News Editor for Industrial Info (Galway, Ireland) -- Some of Europe's largest energy companies are calling on the European Union (E.U.) to raise the target for reducing carbon emissions. Scottish and Southern Energy plc (OTC:SSEZY)(SSE) (Perth, Scotland), Dong Energy A/S (Fredericia, Denmark), Eneco (Rotterdam, Netherlands) and Statkraft AS (Oslo, Norway) are leading a call for Europe to raise the 2020 target from 20% to 25% to boost investment in clean energy technologies. The coalition, comprising six energy companies, believes a tougher target will help boost the European economy while claiming that "going green" has never been cheaper, thanks to the global economic recession.
