WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Jun 22, 2011) - CALSTART, the nation's leading clean transportation technology consortium, is pleased to announce the third annual Hybrid on the Hill Day on June 22nd. Two focused briefings will be held on "Energy Security, Gas Prices and Next Steps for the Industry." The House briefing will be held in 210 Cannon Office Building at 10am; while the same panelists will appear before the Senate at 2pm in 512 Hart Senate Office. There will be heavy-duty hybrid vehicles outside the Dirksen south door between the Russell and Dirksen buildings and on Maryland Avenue by the reflecting pool.

Who:

  • Lieutenant General Richard Zilmer, USMC (ret.) will address energy and national security, a particularly important point of focus in today's foreign affairs climate. Zilmer is a former commanding General in Operation Iraqi Freedom and retired in 2011 after 36 years of service.

  • Michael Schaal, the Director of the Office of Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels Analysis, in the U.S. Energy Information Administration will speak on energy security, oil dependence, and fuel price trends.

  • Scott Harrison, CEO, Azure Dynamics, and Steve Trichka, General Manager, BAE Systems, two executives from leading hybrid tech firms, will discuss investments, jobs and challenges for this important U.S. tech sector.

  • Industry experts from several other leading firms will also be available, including Navistar, Freightliner, Mack, Eaton, Bosch and FedEx Express.
