EnergySolutions Announces Reorganization

SALT LAKE CITY, UT--(Marketwire - December 23, 2008) - EnergySolutions, Inc. (NYSE : ES ) CEO and
Chairman, Steve Creamer, announced today that in order to best position the
company for 2009 and beyond, and to maximize the talents of the executives,
Val Christensen has accepted the position of President of the company and
Raul Deju has accepted the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

and his thoughtful problem solving skills are invaluable to the company.
Raul's management skills, in-depth knowledge of the company and his
attention to detail make him the ideal COO. Both Val and Raul have done
outstanding jobs in their current respective positions as General Counsel
and President and I have full confidence in their ability to continue to
perform to the highest level in their new positions."
Mr. Christensen will oversee several corporate offices including: legal,
government affairs/communications, regulatory affairs,
contracts/procurement, human resources and environmental, safety, health
and quality assurance. All operational units are being consolidated under
Dr. Deju: International Group; Federal Services; Commercial Services;
Logistics, Processing and Disposal and the Canada division. Dr. Deju will
also oversee the Engineering and Technology division.
Both Mr. Christensen and Dr. Deju will continue to report to CEO and
Chairman, Steve Creamer.
Phillip Strawbridge remains Chief Financial Officer and will oversee
Accounting, Investor Relations, Treasury, Risk Management, IT and Mergers
and Acquisitions.
