Enersource Corporation Commits $100,000 to Habitat for Humanity Mississauga's First-Ever Home Build

Project to combine efforts of community, employees and energy efficient technology

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 4, 2008) - Enersource Corporation and Habitat for Humanity Mississauga are thrilled to announce a two-year, $100,000 commitment towards the inaugural home building project expected to break ground this Spring.

Habitat Mississauga currently has a request before the Region of Peel to secure land in the former village of Streetsville for its first-ever home building project. It's hoped there will be an announcement regarding the land in the near future. If successful, Enersource would be the lead sponsor of the build.

Habitat Mississauga Board Chair and President Doug Clark welcomed Enersource as the first major corporation to officially commit sponsorship funds to the first Habitat Mississauga build. As part of Habitat Canada's commitment to build affordable, energy-efficient homes, the Mississauga project will incorporate 'green' technologies allowing the sponsored families to save energy, save money and minimize the environmental footprint of their new homes. "In addition to the generous financial support, we're excited to have Enersource's expertise in energy efficiency to help us build a house that will have a reduced environmental footprint on the community," said Clark.

Enersource employees and corporate partners will also have a hand in helping to build the Habitat homes through dedicated Build Days and assistance with major electrical work on site.

"This is a wonderful project for Enersource to fully demonstrate our commitment to the community in which we work and the four pillars of our Spirit of Giving program: Community, Environment, Health and Safety," said Norm Loberg, Chair of the Enersource Corporation Board of Directors. "This build will involve the community, our employees, our customers, as well as the new homeowners and is a perfect representation of how companies can bring their social responsibility programs to life in a very real way."

This sponsorship marks the single largest financial donation from Enersource Corporation through the company's Spirit of Giving Program; a corporate social responsibility initiative that is focused on charitable donations and employee volunteerism in the City of Mississauga. The two-year commitment marks a shift in the program towards larger contributions to charitable organizations that are involved in projects which require significant financial support while also allowing stakeholders and employees to become involved.
