Enersource Corporation Encourages Residents and Businesses to Sign Up for Earth Hour 2008

Mississauga-based utility challenges customers to turn off the lights on March 29, 2008 and take action against global climate change

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 17, 2008) - Enersource Corporation today announced its plans to participate in Earth Hour 2008, a global initiative of the WWF that encourages both individuals and businesses to turn off non-essential lighting in an effort to raise awareness about global climate change on March 29, 2008, between 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Enersource will turn off all non-essential outdoor and indoor lighting at its head office location, including the outdoor LED sign board and decorative light fixtures. The utility has also issued a challenge to its top 4500 business customers encouraging them to shift non-essential electricity load for the one hour period.

All Enersource customers can participate in Earth Hour by signing up their home or business at www.earthhour.org and get tips on unique ways to conserve electricity during the one hour period.

Both Enersource and the City of Mississauga have committed to educating residents about the importance of participating in this global initiative. "I encourage all customers to take action and turn off the lights at home or at work during Earth Hour. We firmly believe that in building a culture of conservation, small actions done collectively will have a positive impact in reducing our environmental footprint," says Craig Fleming, President and Chief Executive Officer of Enersource Corporation. City of Mississauga Councillor and Environment Committee Chair George Carlson commended Enersource on their Earth Hour challenge to customers: "We have been working with Enersource to raise awareness for Earth Hour 2008 in order to achieve a significant electricity reduction in the City of Mississauga. As an officially registered Earth Hour participating City, I am confident that Mississauga will rise to the challenge to take action against climate change on March 29th."
