Engberg Anderson Milwaukee Office LEED Gold Certified

MILWAUKEE, WI--(Marketwire - June 18, 2009) - The Milwaukee office of Engberg Anderson, Inc., a full-service architecture, planning and interior design firm, has been awarded LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for achieving a high level of sustainable, green building attributes.

LEED -- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design -- is the USGBC's rating system for designing and constructing the world's greenest, most energy efficient, and high performing buildings.

"We have created a space where our clients and the community can see first-hand the benefits and opportunities available when selecting a sustainable design approach -- a sort of living laboratory of responsible and informed design choices," said Shaun Kelly, LEED AP and member of the design team.

In November of 2007, Engberg Anderson moved into the fifth floor of the 1922 PH Dye House. The design team transformed raw industrial space into a healthful working environment. The energy and resource-efficient theories and practices incorporated into the design of the office receive continual feedback from different perspectives and demonstrate the benefits of putting green design into practice.

"The green building movement offers an unprecedented opportunity to respond to the most important challenges of our time, including global climate change, dependence on non-sustainable and expensive sources of energy and threats to human health," said Rick Fedrizzi, president, CEO and founding chair of the USGBC. "The work of innovative building projects such as Engberg Anderson's Milwaukee office is a fundamental driving force in the green building movement."

LEED Gold certification was based on a number of green design construction features that positively impact the project itself and the broader community. Those features foster energy efficiency, indoor air quality, day lighting and lighting controls, transportation, water efficiency and day-to-day office operations.

Engberg Anderson's work in a variety of project types supports the Health, Community and Culture of cities and neighborhoods across the nation. For more information, please visit their website at
