Creative digital agency, Engine Digital, abandoned traditional HR practices during a recent hiring spree in search of the T-shaped employee.

The digital transformation agency, who has added seven new employees to its ranks, explains T-shaped hires are those who have a strong single discipline such as technology (the vertical stalk of the T), while the horizontal line reflects their ability to understand other disciplines such as brand strategy, creative and project management.

Stephen Beck, Partner & CEO of Engine Digital says that the new hiring approach, which abandons traditional agency silos in favor of better-rounded employees, is essential to keep up with the needs of the digital revolution.

"We are thrilled to bring seven new team members on board. Having such diversity and multiple perspectives in the room at one time will help deliver the best digital solutions to our clients."

To build on its competitive strength in the modern business environment, the digital agency has added seasoned strategic brand planner Dean Elissat, and operations expert, James Richardson to the leadership team. Assuming the role of Vice President of Client Engagement, Dean brings over 20 years of agency experience to the team and an innate ability to simplify complex marketing challenges and isolate key brand and digital opportunities to transform a client's business. James, who has led clients through proven strategies and tactics across a number of industry sectors, will guide the agency's operations and project management practices.

Engine Digital's User Experience team will be bolstered by the additions of Ryan Opina and Christine Poh. Having led research and planning activities for Nokia and Microsoft Game Studios, Ryan, who will lead the team as the Director of User Experience, will bridge content and context with user expectation through properly planned user experience. Assuming the role of User Experience Strategist, Christine will supplement the department by drawing on her multi-dimensional experience both in the software industry and agency world.

Andrea Mead, Elias Koudeissi, and Chris Richardson will round out the agency's hires as Director of Production, Senior Project Manager, and Senior Developer, respectively. Andrea, who will oversee Engine Digital's project management practice, will blend her creative and technical backgrounds with a broad understanding of digital strategy to develop process improvements and increase production efficiencies. Bringing an international perspective of digital delivery, Elias will focus on improving the agency's project management delivery process through best practice efficiency and effectiveness models that cater to evolving client requirements. While Chris, a technically advanced software developer specializing in mobile application and web environments is tasked with server side web and database development.

Engine Digital's approach to these T-Shaped new additions fuel the Vancouver-based agency's progressive evolution and continued rapid growth in Canada and the U.S. markets.
