ENI Announces Presenters for the Common Core State Standards and School Transformation Symposium

National Education Practitioners With Significant Gains in Student Achievement to Present at CCSS Event This Fall

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - Aug 31, 2011) - Evans Newton Incorporated (ENI) is proud to announce the school and district administrators presenting at the Common Core State Standards and School Transformation Symposium from October 5-7, 2011. The forum of education leaders includes:

  • Jerry S. Boyd, assistant director of schools, whose expertise includes curriculum, instruction and strategic planning, and Denette Kolbe, supervisor of data analysis and training from Putnam County School District, KY, will share the opportunities and challenges experienced while transitioning to Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
  • Mr. Joseph Pye, superintendent of Dorchester School District Two, SC, and South Carolina ASA's 2012 "Superintendent of the Year," has 41 years' experience in education and is recognized by many educational and professional associations for his work in Dorchester Two. Mr. Pye served as the superintendent of schools for Dorchester School District Two since July 1999 and will share some pros and cons of his distributive leadership style as it relates to school transformation.
  • Cindi Hemm, principal of Eugene Field Elementary School, in OKC, OK, has overseen a dramatic change at a high-minority, high-poverty school that serves the children from several public housing projects in Tulsa. Through her leadership, Eugene Field has gone from having the lowest academic scores in the district to among the highest in the district and the state. Cindi will discuss her collaborative leadership strategy in school. Engaging the staff and community from the ground up in this process has led to huge gains in student achievement and community participation.
  • Michelle Mansheim currently serves as principal of Clifton Elementary School of Mesa County School District 51, CO. In the spring of 2008, Michelle was appointed principal and will share her strategies, challenges and experience in moving from a chronically underperforming school to one that achieved AYP in 2011.

The symposium will be held at the Marriott at McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona, and features interactive workshops and presentations to aid administrators in increasing and maintaining student achievement results while transitioning to the CCSS. Participants will leave with concrete ideas for implementing systemic change and comprehensive data analyses that lead to increased student learning.
