About Ruinart
Discovering Ruinart is an entry into the universe the universe of the oldest champagne house. In 1729, when Nicolas Ruinart laid the foundations of the very first champagne house, he was in fact realizing the ambition of his uncle, Dom Thierry Ruinart, a Benedictine monk. A visionary and enlightened pioneering spirit, he intuitively foresaw the fame and success champagne would enjoy in the future. Nicolas Ruinart, Dom Ruinart's nephew, an ambitious entrepreneur, launched Ruinart into the great adventure of champagne trading which later descendents would continue to uphold. The House of Ruinart was the first to use Gallo Roman chalk cellars to age its wines, and opened the American market as early as 1831. Since then, Ruinart has continued to develop its reputation as the sophisticated champagne for in-the-know wine lovers and continues to create its cuvees in the same exacting spirit of purity, luminosity and elegance -- all characteristics of the Ruinart taste.
