SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 22, 2014) - Enlighted Inc. today announced that it has added two new wireless sensor products -- a ruggedized sensor and a compact sensor -- to its sensor and data collection platform, designed for optimizing energy efficiency and workplace productivity.
"Despite the opportunities provided by high bandwidth data networks, low cost sensors and Big Data software, environmental-related building systems remain mostly dependent on 30-year-old technologies," said Rich Green, senior vice president of products and technology. "Enlighted's systems better inform building environmental systems and their managers with more granular information so that workplaces can be tailored to the task at hand. Our new products expand the deployment options and reach of our systems, which further increases the overall value of our sensor networks."
The Enlighted System is the simplest and most advanced way to manage a building's physical environment and optimize workspaces for the task at hand. Together, Enlighted Smart Sensors and Energy Manager automate, analyze, control, and report environmental data to drive energy efficiency, and more importantly, workplace productivity. The Enlighted System is already deployed across many millions of square feet of office space on campuses of some of the most innovative companies on the planet.
The Enlighted Ruggedized Sensor is used in outdoor applications, parking structures, damp and wet locations and other areas that require an IP65 rated sensor. The Enlighted Compact Sensor's small form factor and flush mount design enables the sensor to blend into its surroundings. Both sensors are ideal for retrofit projects or for OEM's looking to extend the intelligence and capabilities of their lighting products.
All Enlighted Sensors connect to each light fixture in the building or outdoor areas -- whether fixtures are fluorescent, LED, or other types -- where they collect occupancy, ambient light, temperature, and energy consumption data. Once configured, each sensor operates on its own without requiring centralized control. Based on the stored profiles, Enlighted Smart Sensors control each light fixture accordingly. Data from each sensor is transmitted wirelessly to the Enlighted networked management system for deeper analysis and reporting.
"Enlighted has brought Silicon Valley inventiveness and technological expertise to building management systems, disrupting a market that to date has been slow to progress," said Eric McReynolds, Facilities and Safety Professional at LinkedIn. "The addition of the compact and ruggedized sensors means we can deploy Enlighted across our entire campus to achieve greater energy savings and productivity improvements, while providing additional data that can be used to gain deeper insights for a wide range of applications and efficiency improvements."
Enlighted provides people-smart energy efficiency solutions for commercial environments. Its first application -- advanced lighting control, built on the Enlighted sensor and analytics platform -- saves companies between 50% and 70% in energy costs while tuning individual workspaces for the comfort and efficiency of the people who work in them. Additional applications ranging from occupancy and real estate analysis, to HVAC controls to security services are based on additional data that can be observed and aggregated on the Enlighted Cloud.
