Ensequence Awarded U.S. Patent for Technology That Enables Interactive TV to Scale, Transform Ads

Configurable Template Interface Simplifies and Speeds Up Process for Developing Interactive Broadcasts and Ads

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - February 17, 2009) - Ensequence, the interactive television company, today announced that it has received a U.S. patent for its configurable template interface. With this technology, Ensequence continues to drive the interactive TV industry forward by providing customizable templates to transform programs and advertising into interactive TV experiences that powerfully engage consumers, build brand awareness and provide measurable results.

Ensequence's newest patented technology enables scalability across the interactive TV workflow, making it possible for the entire interactive TV industry to grow. It allows advertisers, programmers and distributors to create hundreds of interactive television experiences from a single master template while retaining some elements of creative flexibility.

"Interactive television must be able to scale in order for the entire industry to move forward," said Dalen Harrison, CEO of Ensequence. "This template interface enables scalability by making interactive television development fast, consistent and efficient. An experience that used to take several months to develop can, in many instances, now be created in a matter of weeks and updated in as little as a few hours -- making it easier than ever before for advertisers, programmers and distributors to quickly build a scalable interactive television business."

The patented software interface, which is being used by Ensequence customers in the United States and United Kingdom, enables quick and easy authoring and updating of interactive television experiences. It allows production personnel to quickly make updates to programming features (graphics, text, calls to action, viewer request for information forms, voting and polling questions, and other interactive television features and functionality) without re-authoring the content.

Ensequence continues to lead the interactive television market -- the company holds five patents that represent core elements of the creation, production and deployment of interactive television across multiple distribution platforms. The company has also been credited with a number of 'firsts' in the industry. In 2007, the company developed the first live interactive television application to be deployed across multiple platforms for the Spike TV Video Game Awards and worked with Reebok to deliver the first interactive TV advertising campaign in the United States that enabled consumers to make a purchase with their remote control. Ensequence has also been the recipient of several industry awards, including an Emmy for its MLB.TV Mosaic.
