Entelo Recruiting Trends Report Reveals Significant Developments in Recruitment Marketing, Diversity Hiring and Candidate Engagement

Increasing Focus on Building Sophisticated Talent Teams Armed with Data to Recruit More Effectively

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Nov 15, 2016) - Entelo, the leading provider of enterprise software for data-driven recruiting, today released its 2017 Annual Recruiting Trends Report. Based on the shared understanding that demand for qualified talent has outstripped supply, Entelo's research uncovered key recruiting trends while also contesting commonly held practices.

Entelo CEO Jon Bischke observed, "A new breed of recruiter has emerged in recent years, driven by data, focused on engagement and led by globally diverse leaders. Talent acquisition now holds an important place in the achievement of business objectives, making it a C-level focus. Select findings from Entelo's 2017 Annual Recruiting Trends Report include:

  • Candidate Communications: When asked which channel they use most commonly to engage candidates, 52.9 percent of talent acquisition professionals cited email, followed by LinkedIn InMail (24.5 percent). When polled about the effectiveness of these channels, 38.6 percent said email was successful while 11.2 percent believed LinkedIn InMails are the most effective way to reach candidates.
  • Social Sourcing: On average, recruiters spend 10.4 minutes reviewing the social media profiles of candidates to determine fit. On average, recruiters use or reference 8.9 different social media sites from which to source passive candidates.
  • Recruitment Marketing: Nearly half (48.9 percent) of all companies surveyed report they will increase spending on employer branding to make their companies and open positions easier for ideal-fit candidates to find. Without an active employer branding program in place, half of the respondents (50 percent) say their companies risk high volumes of inbound applicants who do not meet even the basic requirements for the jobs they apply.
  • Diversity: Top of mind are diversity and inclusion initiatives, with 67.4 percent of talent acquisition professionals reporting that their management teams either support or strongly support workplace diversity. Large organizations are 2.5 times more likely to already have a diversity initiative in place, with 46 percent saying their initiatives are successful or very successful. In contrast, only 31 percent of smaller organizations believe the same.

Research respondents were 741 global talent acquisition professionals, selected based on their HR or talent acquisition job function. Respondents opted in to participate in this research study and completed a survey of 35 questions related to their talent acquisition activities. The respondents represent a variety of industries, company sizes, countries and professional experience levels.
