Enterprise Deploys Mobile Enterprise Rental Vehicle (MERV) to Calgary to Meet Increased Demands from Flooding

Vehicle will be in the area for at least three weeks in first-ever trip to Canada

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - July 4, 2013) - This weekend Enterprise Rent-A-Car will deploy its Mobile Enterprise Rental Vehicle (MERV) to Calgary in response to increased demand resulting from the flooding in the city and surrounding communities. The severe flooding that began on June 21 forced the evacuation of more than 100,000 people in 26 communities, and Enterprise anticipates between 10,000 and 20,000 vehicle insurance claims will arise in the coming weeks as the lives of its customers return to order. This is the first time MERV has been deployed in Canada.

"Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone affected by the flooding in Calgary and the surrounding communities, and we hope to help all of our customers through this difficult time," said Jim Thompson, vice president of Enterprise Rent-A-Car in Calgary. "Worrying about transportation is the last thing our customers want to be concerned about right now, and we hope to help them get a vehicle as quickly and easily as possible."

MERV will act as a temporary satellite location to replace Enterprise's location in High River, which was destroyed by floodwaters, and the two other Enterprise locations in downtown Calgary that remain without power. MERV will serve all customers in these areas who have been assisted in the nearby location in Okotoks since the flooding. Enterprise estimates MERV will remain in the area for between three and four weeks as many citizens of High River remain displaced.

Enterprise has provided rental vehicles to the Canadian Red Cross and restoration companies currently providing emergency aid across Southern Alberta. The company continues to bring in rental-ready vehicles from other areas in Alberta and from outside the province to handle the additional demand and is working closely with its insurance and body shop partners to schedule replacement vehicles for their customers whose cars are being repaired. In an effort to help the recovery and cleanup effort, the Enterprise Foundation has also donated $20,000 to the Canadian Red Cross.

MERV will operate onsite at Western Financial Group's main branch in High River. Western Financial has opened its doors to all insurers interested in having a presence on their lot during this difficult time. Currently, Intact Insurance, Royal & SunAlliance Canada and Wawanesa insurance are on-site, and TD Insurance will be onsite in the MERV unit.

About Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Operating in Canada since 1993 and known for its extensive network of locations, everyday low rates and outstanding customer service, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is an internationally recognized brand that has been named to BusinessWeek magazine's annual list of "Customer Service Champs" in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. In addition, Enterprise won Budget Travel magazine's 2010 and 2011 Readers' Choice Award as their favorite rental car brand for customer service around the globe.

With more than 450 neighborhood and airport locations throughout Canada, Enterprise Rent-A-Car operates not only as a key provider for insurance replacement, small business needs, weekend getaways, and special occasions, but also as a local transportation alternative. For example, many consumers rely on mass transit during the week or simply cannot afford to purchase or maintain a vehicle on their own - so they often depend on local Virtual Car® rental service and take advantage of Enterprise's "everyday low price," including popular weekend rates starting at $9.99 per day. Enterprise is the Official Rent-A-Car of the NHL.
